Tough times and the unsolved murders of anyone with ties to the Deveres—a family of wealthy parish patrons—back Father Dowling up against a wall in his struggle to save his church from the chopping block. With too many churches and not enough people to fill them, the Archdiocese has to make some cuts, and many of them, including the proposed closing of St. Hilary’s, are dangerously close to the bone. Father Dowling rushes to drum up support from church officials and parishioners, including the Deveres, who don’t want to see the stained glass windows they donated go anywhere other than the church they were meant for, but they can hardly be of help when those closest to them start turning up dead. Church politics, long-kept family secrets, and a determined killer come together to put St. Hilary’s—a church that countless characters and devoted readers have come to love—and its parishioners in peril in Stained Glass , the latest in Ralph McInerny’s treasured mystery series.

A sheet of clear glass is coated with glue and slowly baked until the glue peels off. As it pulls away, it chips the surface of the glass, creating a texture similar to frost on a window pane. Glue chip glass is great for backgrounds, and will compliment beveled glass beautifully. Clear textured glass, sometimes called architectural glass, can add incredible depth and beauty to your home. Textures, ranging from subtle to dramatic, add privacy, movement, and create ambiance in designs like nothing else. Most commonly used in cabinets and entryways, clear textures can be used to add dazzling appeal to panels, sun catchers and more. Use alone or in combination with other textures and colors to create a stunning piece of glass art. Flower panel project shown below is from Kitchen Cabinets, Windows and Tile book 6200. Tulip panel project created by Artist Kathy Carroll.

“Throughout the centuries stained-glass windows have been a symbol of Christianity and their message has been to communicate the Gospel with illustrations from the Bible. If stained-glass windows could speak, what would they say? This book shares their profound message of the Gospel.Stained Glass Windows is an inspirational book that presents the Gospel in glass. To the Christian…it will renew and revive faith in Christ. To the new believer…it will disciple, guide, and strengthen faith. To the unbeliever…it will introduce fundamental Christian truths. The ultimate mission of this evangelical book is to share the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to bring glory to God by making an eternal difference in the lives to all who read it.Using a metaphoric style the author presents the Gospel in a most unusual way. Christians are compared to stained-glass windows. Just as light passes through a stained-glass window, causing the jewel-like colors to radiate and sparkle, the Holy Spirit reflects the life of God within a believer. This book will take you on a journey through the Bible as each stained-glass portrait is explored.Every page of Stained Glass Windows emphasizes the authority of the Holy Bible and the revelation of the Holy Spirit. This book can be used in Bible studies. It is also an excellent evangelistic tool and a Gospel handbook.Krista Capozzoli resides in southwestern Pennsylvania with her twin sister, niece, and two beloved cats. She has a background in Christian Ministry and Theology, and her goal is to communicate God’s Word effectively by sharing her unique biblical insights. Her mission as a teacher of God’s Word is to teach the Bible with an innovative approach. Her writing style is profound, inspirational, and thematic. Krista reaches out to teens, young adults, and adults with her “writing ministry.”"

Auras, Chakras, and Energy Fields: What They Are to You and How Your Angels and Guides Work Through Them

Auras, Chakras, and Energy Fields: What They Are to You and How Your Angels and Guides Work Through Them

$9.95

Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health are all reflected in your aura. The colors that you wear most of the time can alter the colors in your aura. Wearing bright colors that are the same colors as your chakras is healthful to your chakras and to your aura. Colors reflected onto the physical body can help to strengthen your aura. Like those that are reflected by the sunlight through stained glass windows in a church, synagogue, or temple. Your aura and chakras are subtle energies that your angels and guides work through to help you and to guide you on many different levels. Eating foods that are the color of certain chakras will help to strengthen that chakra and your aura. This is Sylvia Lavey’s second book. Her first book, Synchronicity, was published in November, 2006.

Built between 1840 and 1856, with the belfry and portico as later additions, it has been considered the “flagship cathedral” of the Irish midlands region, Longford’s “landmark building” and “one of the finest Roman Catholic churches in Ireland”. The cathedral is dedicated to St. Mel (died 488), who came to Ireland with St. Patrick and who was ordained bishop at Ardagh, about 10 km (6 miles) from Longford. On Christmas Day 2009, St. Mel’s Cathedral was destroyed by fire in the early hours of the morning. The interior of the cathedral in the late 19th century. The cathedral is a Neo-Classical stone building, at the north east side of the town. It was begun in 1840 to the design of Joseph B. Keane, with the foundation stone (taken from the ruined catherdral in nearby Ardagh) lain by the the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise, Dr. William O’Higgins, on 19 May 1840. Work was then delayed by the arrival of the Great Famine, but the church was opened for worship by Dr. O’Higgins’ successor, Rt. Rev. John Kilduff, on 29 September 1856. The roof is supported by 24 limestone columns quarried at nearby Newtowncashel. The 1860 belfry was designed by John Bourke, and the 1889 portico was designed by George Ashlin. The cathedral was finally consecrated on 19 May 1893. Harry Clarke studios designed the beautiful stained glass windows in the transepts. Ray Carroll designed… More:

Not illustrated. Excerpt: St Laurence Church, Ludlow is a parish church in the Church of England in Ludlow. The parish church was established as a Norman place of worship in association with the founding of Ludlow in the 11th century AD. This parish church in Shropshire, England contains an extensive set of misericords in the choir stalls as well as fine stained glass windows. The tower is 42 meters in height and commands expansive views of the local area. The church was rebuilt in the year 1199 and has had several later additions and modifications. Original Norman traces were found beneath the south porch, indicating some extant foundations exist from the 11th century AD. After its initial construction the church was expanded and rebuilt in 1199 to accommodate a flourishing town population. In the late Middle Ages considerable wealth accrued to the town based upon the wool trade. Correspondingly the church underwent several further additions in that era. The major works occurred between 1433 and 1471 with a virtual re-building of the nave, tower and chancel elements. The tower took on a perpendicular style which was modish in the late 15th century in England. The Saint John’s Chapel on the north side was the chapel of the Palmers Guild , who thrived in the Late Middle Ages. The Palmers Window within St John’s Chapel illustrates the legend of King Edward the Confessor and St John the Evangelist. by eight panels and was inspired by the Ludlow Palmers 13th century pilgrimage to the Holy Land 18th century ledger stone memorial in the St Laurence Church catacombs. Excerpt: The Grue Church fire happened in Grue, Norway on 26 May 1822 and took the lives of between 113 and 117 churchgoers. It is the biggest fire disaster in the history of Norway. The old Grue Church was located close to Skulstad, north-west of Kirkenær in Solør. The oldest section of the church stemmed from the 13th century and was built using the stave method. The church was rebuilt around 1600 with the addition of two transepts built with round, hand-worked, logs and one tall central tower. Above the nave and the two transepts there were wide galleries, allowing the church to house 600-700 people. Both the nave and the transepts had entrance doors which swung inwards. When in open position they also blocked the entrance door to the galleries. The leaded frame stained glass windows were placed high up on the wall and were covered by an iron grid on the outside. The exterior of the church was covered with pine tar. Calculations that were later done estimated that 17 tons of tar had been applied between 1600 and 1822. On Pentecost the church was filled to capacity. It was a bright and hot day early in the summer. In the middle of the sermon that was preached by the vicar, Iver Hesselberg, a fire broke out on the outer wall of the southern transept, and soon the fire broke in. Within 10-15 minutes the church was completely engulfed and soon burnt to the ground. Evacuation was hampered by the way in which the doors had been constructed, and a panic arose inside the church where everyone fought each other to escape. The official death count is 113, however the figures 116 and 117 are also mentioned. Among the people who were incinerated there were a mere 7 adult men. At least 45 of the fatalities were children under 16 years. Many were trapped in th… More:

Hans Holbein the Younger was a German artist and printmaker who worked in a Northern Renaissance style. He is best known as one of the greatest portraitists of the 16th century. He also produced religious art, satire and Reformation propaganda He is called the Younger to distinguish him from his father, Hans Holbein the Elder, an accomplished painter of the Late Gothic school. He worked mainly in Basel as a young artist. At first he painted murals and religious works and designed for stained glass windows and printed books. He also painted the occasional portrait, making his international mark with portraits of the humanist Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam. When the Reformation reached Basel, Holbein worked for reformist clients while continuing to serve traditional religious patrons. His Late Gothic style was enriched by artistic trends in Italy, France, and the Netherlands, as well as by Renaissance Humanism. The result was a combined aesthetic uniquely his own. Holbein travelled to England in 1526 he was welcomed into the humanist circle of Thomas More, where he quickly built a high reputation. He worked for the twin founts of patronage, Anne Boleyn and Thomas Cromwell. By 1535, he was King’s Painter to King Henry VIII. His portraits of the royal family and nobles are a vivid record of a brilliant court in the momentous years when Henry was asserting his supremacy over the English church
